At 5 years old after watching a welder at work,
Peery took the craft and become a welder by trade.
By welding together pieces of his imagination out of scrap metal,
car and bicycle parts, old fences and other bits of machinery,
Peery creates his ornamental characters,
often metal giants that stand over 8 feet tall.
One such monument - the St. Francis of Assisi,
stands guard day and night outside Metal Maddness,
constructed of pencil rod, weighing over 1400 lbs.
With arms outstretched and bearing a chain metal beard - avant guard.
Other realistic works such as scaled down
Harley - Davidson motorcycles, trains sans tracks,
a helicopter complete with spinning propeller,"Rocket Rex", a giant dog, giraffes, horses, fish,
appeal to collectors who appreciate the rugged, raw,
machine look of Peery's work which sometimes have
the expression of creatures in motion.
Such works are collected by well-known
Angelenos and he's represented
by major art galleries in Beverly Hills, W. Hollywood, and Malibu.
