In 1996, I was living at the Saint Francis Hotel in Hollwood exhibiting my work out front.  An older fellow drove by and saw the sculptures and stopped to speak with me.  For twenty years the older man had envisioned having a monument built of Saint Francis of Assisi.  This encouraged me to create the mighty statue.  I felt that it must be fate to create a statue of Saint Francis while living at the Saint Francis Hotel.

I began to build the statue.  The project took over 16 months, working for more than a total of 1,500 hours to create this spiritual masterpiece.

The sculpture stands eight feet high and has an arm span of 8'6". Ten miles of 3/16" round bar, 1/8" diamond plate collar, 1/2" plate hands, 3/4" ears and feet, 3/8" chain hair, 1/4" chain beard and a skeleton made of 1" and 2" square tubing.  The belt is 1/2" twisted bar, and the cross is made of stainless steel.
